Supported Employment is an evidenced based practice model that helps people with severe mental illness find and keep jobs.  An evidenced based practice means the model has been tried and tested across Ohio and other states.  The research shows that supported employment is more effective then other types of vocational practices for people with severe mental illness.  In fact, the research shows that supported employment increases competitive jobs, increases the hours people work and the amount of money people earn.  Employment staff work assertively to help people find work they say they want when they say the want to work.
